# Apple tonic: Mix 1 tablespoon of apple juice with 1/4 teaspoon of lime juice. Leave it on for 20 minutes. It is excellent for combating greasiness.



# Potato tonic: Grind & squeeze juice of potatoes. Apply it onface and neck and leave it for whole night. Next morning, wash it off with water. This tonic brightens the skin.



# Orange tonic: Blanch and grind couple of almonds to paste and mix in two tablespoons of milk, one tablespoon of carrot and orange juice. Apply thickly on face & neck. Leave it for 1/2 an hour. It is helpful in removing scars and blemishes from face and makes it soft and smooth.



# Tomato tonic: In 2 teaspoons of tomato juice, add 4 tablespoons of buttermilk and apply on face. Remove after 1/2 an hour. It is an excellent face tonic for removing sunburns.



# Tomato lotion: In 1 tablespoon of tomato juice add some drops of lime juice. Apply on face and remove after 15 minutes. It is very effective for shrinking enlarged pores.



# Watermelon lotion: Grate and squeeze out juice from small piece of watermelon. Apply on face and neck and leave it on for 15 minutes and then remove. This lotion freshens up skin.



# Cucumber and Turmeric lotion: To 1 tablespoon of cucumber juice stir in few drops of lemon juice and pinch of turmeric powder. Apply on face & neck and wash it off after half an hour. It's an excellent whitener for all types of skins.



# Carrot lotion: To 1/4 teaspoon of carrot juice, add 1 teaspoon of honey and apply on face. Remove with cotton ball soaked in lukewarm water to which little soda bicarbonate has been added after 15 minutes. It removes roughness and makes skin smooth as silk.



# Coconut lotion: Coconut water, if rubbed on skin and left on for 15 minutes, lightens and brightens the skin.



# Papaya pulp: Apply some or small piece of mashed raw papaya to face and leave on for 15 minutes. It removes pimples and other embarrassing blemishes from the face.



# Cucumber lotion: Take 1 tablespoon of cucumber juice, milk and few drops of rose water mix together and apply on face and neck and remove after 15 minutes. It's an excellent whitener for delicate skin.



# Grape lotion: 1 tablespoon grape juice should be applied on the face and neck for 15 minutes. It will help in making skin soft, smooth, bright and fair.

We all know that aerobics is a great, low impact exercise that benefits our health. What a lot don't realise is that it has also been linked with reducing the chances of developing heart disease and certain cancers.




Any kind of cancer is great news, and the years of testing have shown aerobics to be one of the most effective. Your risk of developing colon cancer is reduced by a whopping 30-40% by only doing moderate exercise for half an hour a day.

As if that wasn't enough, more recent studies show that taking up aerobics can also greatly assist in treating a cancer that is already present.



The most recent study has shown that if you participate in a vigorous work out so that your heart reaches its maximum rate for half an hour, 5 days a week, the fatigue that cancer treatment causes can be greatly relieved.



We all know that we produce happy hormones known as endorphins when we exercise vigorously, and these greatly relieve the feelings of depression and anxiety that are experience by cancer sufferers.



We have always known that aerobics is one of the best cardio workouts that you can do. It strengthens and conditions the heart so the risks of developing cardiovascular disease are greatly reduced. If you suffer from high blood pressure, you will benefit from aerobic exercise, and blood vessels that have stiffened will also be relieved.



You may have already been aware of the many benefits of aerobic exercise, but many are not. There is now no excuse for not introducing some light to moderate exercise into your day. Your body will thank you for it.

Intro to Herbs: The Benefits and Drawbacks of Herbal Remedies

When and where I can, I like to use natural remedies for health concerns. That's one of the reasons I became a Master Herbalist. However, when it comes to my health or any one else's, I prefer to work with a doctor to make sure the right treatment is chosen.




There are several things to consider when you are choosing an approach to a problem. The answers to several questions have to be looked at in order to do so. Here are a few of the ones I choose to ask/answer:



1) Are there any other health conditions? Some conditions can be made worse if herbal remedies are introduced into the mix. Those with high blood pressure can't use licorice in any format, because it will cause the blood pressure to go up.



2) Are you taking any medications? There is a danger of drug/herb interaction even with common remedies such as garlic. Garlic is a blood thinner, so those taking medications for that purpose have to use caution. Some interactions can be deadly, such as taking goldenseal with a statin. Severe muscle damage and renal failure can occur.



3) Are you going to drive or operate heavy machinery? Many herbs can cause drowsiness. Just as you'd use caution if you took a medication or drank alcohol, you won't want to drive when taking them. Chamomile, jasmine, lavender, passionflower and St. John's Wort all have that capacity.



4) How serious is the diagnosis? There are conditions that I cannot help with. There are also a few that I can offer support for, but they will require me and a physician to work together. Very few herbs can get rid of cancer, and some types of cancer don't respond at all to herbal remedies. If the diagnosis is heart disease, I can suggest herbs like garlic. Many herbs interact with the medications for both conditions, so I use a lot of caution.



5) Are you allergic to anything? I have two examples of the importance of this question. The first is aspirin. If you are allergic to aspirin, then you are allergic to willow bark. You may also be allergic to feverfew and yarrow. The other is something that happened to me, and it could potentially happen to you. I was taking black cohosh and developed hives from scalp to toenails. I was lucky, it could have gone into anaphylaxic shock, which would have killed me. If you notice any allergic reaction stop taking the herb and consult your doctor.



6) Do you have dietary concerns? People with food allergies or that prefer not to eat certain things need a bit of extra care when choosing a home remedy. If you don't believe in eating animal products, I'm not going to suggest you get your omega-3s from salmon oil. You can get the same benefit from flax oil, and that's a plant.



The answers to these questions may generate more questions, and that is a good thing. In order for you to have the best treatment possible, those who provide it must have all the information we can.
