Home Remedies for Healthy Eyes and Proper Self Eye Care

Before doing anything else, it is very important that you keep in mind that your vision is of prime importance. Anything that you put in your eyes, whether it is a solution, cream or ointment, should be sourced from authentic and reputable suppliers and manufacturers.

As far as home remedies for eye care is concerned, it is open to doubt whether they work or not. There is indeed a lot of anecdotal evidence to prove that many home remedies do work. We see people who have been going for daily morning walks with an eyedropper in hand to pick up dewdrops on leaves and put them in their eyes. Many of these people have perfect vision even in their eighties and nineties. However, it must be said that we also see many elderly who have never used any home remedy for eye care and still have no eyesight problems.

Having said that, it must also be said that the key to eye health is proper eye care that revolves around three simple things.

Healthy diet: Eat a lot of vegetable and fruits. The idea is to follow a diet that is rich in antioxidants. Antioxidants prevent free radical damage and delay the signs of aging to a great extent. With the right diet, you can prevent eye infections, have perfect vision, and also maintain overall eye health. Beta carotene found in dark green and dark yellow fruits and vegetables is very beneficial for eyesight. It is because of this that eye doctors recommend carrots for improving eye health.

UV Protection: People take good care of their skin and use skin lotion with high sun protection factor to prevent damage from excessive exposure to sunlight and UV rays. The same UV causes harm to your eyes if you do not take adequate precaution while you are out in the sun. Ordinary and cheap sunglasses do not provide sufficient protection from UV rays. Only UV protection sunglasses are able to protect your eyes from harm caused by direct sunlight.

Stop Smoking: While the harmful effects of smoking and its carcinogenic effects are well known, most people are not aware of the harm that cigarette smoke causes to eyes. Smoking not only has an adverse effect on vision, but also results in sagging and baggy skin around the eyes.

Besides these simple home remedies there are also products prepared from natural substances that go a long way in maintaining eye health and improving eyesight. Some of the best eye care products fall under the category of homeopathy remedies, which are prepared only from natural substances, including herbs.

Medical grade rose water for washing the eyes is one of the better known home remedies. There are also other herbs such as bilberry and rooibos that are known to improve eyesight. Bilberry or Vaccinium myrtillus strengthens eye capillaries, and rooibos or Aspalathus linearis aids in supplying oxygen rich blood and other nutrients to eyes. It is also has antioxidant properties and combats free radicals, which are elements that cause disease and speed up the signs of aging.

Anti Aging Beauty Treatments You Can Make at Home

By Jayne Pleysier
Some of the most effective Anti Aging treatments are ones that you can make at home. Many of the ingredients in the top Anti Aging and anti wrinkle creams and lotions are natural enzymes and plant elements that you can get for a fraction of the cost by making your own home treatments. Instead of paying hundreds of dollars for a pricey skin cream make your own cream at home using the exact same plant extracts and age defying ingredients that go into making the expensive creams. Plants, vegetables, flowers and fruit have many age defying properties that you can use to look younger and keep your skin healthy. Of course healthy skin starts from the inside out, so eating a balanced diet that is rich is fruits like grapefruit which is packed with antioxidants is important. But you can also use these home spa treatments to fight aging without a hefty cost:

Fruit Mask

This mask works similarly to a laser peel and will give you the appearance of fresher, younger skin without the laser. Put some strawberries, an egg white, and a little natural aloe gel into a blender and whip until smooth. If the mixture is too runny add another egg white. Egg whites are a natural binder and you can use them in almost anything. When the mixture has the texture of a thick paste, or a facial mask you would buy in the store, it's ready. Spread it on your face evenly and leave it to dry for ten to fifteen minutes. Rinse with warm water and follow it with a natural toner and you will have dramatically younger looking skin.

Grapefruit Toner

This easy to make everyday toner is a fabulous Anti Aging weapon. Grapefruits are packed with natural antioxidants, which fight free radicals on the skin. Free radicals can cause your skin to look dull and old, so using a toner full of antioxidants will make your face look bright and refreshed and younger. To make this toner squeeze the juice of one or two grapefruits into some all natural witch hazel. Witch hazel is a natural astringent. Add a touch of Tea Tree oil if you have a problem with blemishes and store the mixture in the refrigerator. Use it every time you wash your face and watch how quickly your skin will glow.

Soothing Mask

Red, inflamed skin definitely will make you look older. If you have problems with blemishes or redness try this soothing mask once a week. Make a cup of chamomile tea and put the used tea into a blender with some Greek yogurt, a little honey, and cream. Whip until well blended. Apply to your face and sit for ten minutes. Drink the tea. When you rinse the mask off the natural Anti Aging properties in the cream and honey will leave your skin toned, even, and looking great.

Anti Aging products don't have to cost a fortune to work. You can make your own spa treatments at home that contain many of the same ingredients as expensive creams, peels and lotions for a fraction of the cost.

There are several homeopathic remedies for gout but in most cases they are maintenance programs. Also, watch your diet since studies show that foods rich in meat and seafood normally cause a person to develop gout. In addition to that, try to avoid alcohol since this makes a person more prone to gout. As for other home remedies for gout, these would include drinking at least eight 6-ounce glasses of water or fluid every day. This not only helps reduce gout attacks but also helps prevent kidney stones from forming since drinking fluids helps wash out uric acid away from you system.

Furthermore, try to maintain a desirable weight especially since obesity can cause gout attacks. Having a healthy body helps you to avoid gout attacks. Another effective home gout remedy is using baking soda and you can also start working out to make yourself more healthy.

Backache - Relieving the Pain and Discomfort of This Problem With Home Remedies

What can one say about backache other than - OUCH! - Personally I have probably only experienced backache a handful of times [due to over-exercise rather than injury] and have been married to a rather tall man of 6 foot 7 inches for over 20 years and boy does he suffer from this problem. his height and the length of his spine could probably be a cause but I know that about 20 years ago he hurt his back while attempting to wind-surf [not to serious a injury at the time].

Some causes of this problem are the way we lead our lives - we are very sedentary in these modern times, choosing to sit in front of the telly or computer over doing some physical exercise. Emotional or psychological stress can also cause muscle spasms of the back, being overweight or having crazy work hours can contribute to this problem as well. It is no wonder then that backache is the most prevalent ailment in this fast paced world we live in.

The common symptoms of this problem:

* chronic pain in the lower middle back

* back pain involving the waist and the hips

* acute back pain - can cause a person to be unable to move

About 80% of all backache sufferers have a degenerative condition called spondylosis [cervical and lumbar], the spine tends to lose its flexibility due to the vertebrae adhering to each other [via boney unions].

Other medical causes

* kidney problems

* prostate infections

* arthritis

* emotional problems

* influenza

Self inflicted causes

* strain - improper lifting of weights

* poor posture

* tension

* lack of exercise

* poor nutrition

* high heels

* sitting for to long

Tried and trusted home remedies for backache

1) The all famous garlic

Smelly but effective when used externally, fry 10 cloves in about 50 ml of oil [your choice of oil - I tried coconut to counteract the garlic smell] on a low heat till the cloves are brown, drain the oil out of the pan and allow to cool, rub this oil over the affected area and leave in situ for 3 - 4 hours. The patient may then have a hot bath to remove the excess oil, this needs to be done daily for about 2 weeks. 3 Cloves of garlic taken daily [as a supplement] will also assist in easing back problems.

2) Vitamin C

Another natural wonder, take about 2000mg of this vitamin daily and a noticeable improvement will occur within a couple of days. Drinking the juice of one lemon with a touch of salt 2x daily is also said to have healing powers.

3) The good old potato

Applying raw potato to the painful region can also be very effective in treating back pain, the best way to do this is to grate a few potatoes, place on the area and wrap a old towel around the patient to keep the shavings in place [leave in place for as long as the patient does not need to move]. On removal gently wipe the area with a warm damp cloth.

4) Chebulic myroblan

This plants fruit has medicinal properties [chebulinic acid] which can assist with the easing of pain. Try eating a small piece after each meal.

5) Heat packs

The application of heat packs to the area will also assist in easing/relieving pain.

I personally have only ever used the 1st and the 5th points above and have found that by combining them the pain relief is almost instantaneous.

Changing the patients diet is also pretty important, ensure that the patient has a well balanced diet and that he eats at least four times a day [plenty vegetables and lots of fruit and fruit juice], avoid bananas, fried, fatty, spicy and processed foods at this time. Try to reduce the amount of sweets, coffee, tea and sugar that the patient consumes during this period.

Smoking is also a big NO! while gentle exercise is a big YES! at this time.

As with all physical pain, if everything you try does not assist the patient in improving, please consult your doctor for medical advice.
