Eat Well - Be Well

We always hear about advice on eating healthy foods and having proper diet. Such tips are found
everywhere: magazines, books, television commercials, billboards and in the internet. Without a doubt, a
balanced meal of nutritious foods is a precursor to healthy lifestyle.

Quite interestingly, some studies give us an idea not only about the benefits of eating the right kinds of foods, but also of eating right - not just the "what", but also the "how." This article will cover insights people actually overlook about eating habits that affect our health in a major way:

• Never miss meals. Some people think that since they are on a diet it is okay to miss meals. But that's not true. In fact, irregular food intake causes too much gas in our empty stomach and may lead to discomfort and pain once we decide to finally fill it with food. This leads us to the next fact which is to -

• Have a definite time for eating meals. Be disciplined about following the right schedule for mealtime. It's not something you do only after finishing certain tasks as if it's last in your priority list. Take time out, even in the middle of a busy day. It will in fact recharge you with energy to do more stuff...and keep you out of hyper-acidity and ulcer.

• Eating early on the morning helps a lot. Breakfast, as we may all know, is the most important meal of the day. A good breakfast will get our system going well, sustaining us for the day's work. Unfortunately, many people ignore this because they rush off to work, thinking they will just eat a full meal at supper time. This, of course, is quite incorrect. Digestive illnesses are usually caused by an overloaded abdomen which is slowly working at night-time wherein metabolism is slow. We are recommended to eat light during an evening meal, instead.

• Take it easy. Do not hurry yourself while eating; you need to chew well to be able to thoroughly digest the food. Also, consider good posture while eating. It matters a lot. No slouching, please.

Simply put, it is not only what we eat, but the way we take in and consume the food we choose that makes us fit and healthy.
