Creating a Peaceful Life - 3 Top Tips

There are days when everything just seems to flow and there are days when everything just seems to go wrong. For the most part when life seems tough it was because we are wanting someone or something outside of ourselves to fix things. This does not happen. When we accept responsibility for our life and create our days the world is a much better place to be.

So here a couple of tips that have helped me in my life. I hope they help you in yours.

Take responsibility - this is the first and perhaps the most important step in leading a peaceful life. When positive things happen in your life, accept them. The same applies to negative things. We learn from the negative experiences. They may not be pleasant at the time but we are responsible not necessarily for the events but for our responses to events in our lives. When we take responsibility for our responses to all that happens in our lives, we are more likely to see opportunities for growth and change than if we are blaming outside people and events for our circumstances.

Be committed - to your life, to your loved ones, to balance. If you have a look at what you spend your time doing you will soon see what you are committed to in your life. If you work for more than 8 hours a day, watch television for 4 or 5 hours and sleep for 9 hours, where is the time in your life for family, fun and learning. Everyone has the same amount of time in their day and those who have peaceful lives are likely to have better time management skills. Turn off the computer and mobile phone when you are in the company of those you are committed to. If something is truly important, a message will be left for you. It was not that long ago that mobile phones were not an everyday item and computers were only used by those who worked in offices. Now it seems, for some people, that these are the preferred ways of connecting with people. Put people before technology and see how enriched your life becomes.

Get moving - do something active every day. We recently bought one of the tennis balls on a pole that you play in the backyard. We all have a great time hitting the ball, either to one another or on our own. I also walk whenever and wherever possible. Walking generates a great rhythm and clears the head. Walking and dancing are two of my favourite forms of active meditation where I can just let thoughts pass through without analyzing them. The brain has trouble thinking and analyzing while the body is being active. This is great if you need some 'head space.'
